L-net Marketing Team
L-net Marketing Team Meeting Summary Minutes
recorded by: Pam
present: Brandon, Kim, Pam
April 13, 2005
Team received Innovator award from Tutor.
1. OLA debriefing
What worked well:
1. Booth – Great location, lots of traffic. Many people stopped. Busier than many vendors. Many who stopped were familiar with service.
Next time: Suggest different arrangement of tables – have two tables, each to one side of booth, allowing better traffic flow, and two cnters for demo-ing.
2. Meet and greet.
Went well. People enjoyed it.
Next time get either a conference or cordiality room, invite more broadly (both L-net service providers and others).
Recommendations: Find out about Salem Convention center accommodations early.
Possibly do a 4 hour preconference – L-net training
Marketing Materials:
People wanted to purchase T-shirts. How can we sell under terms of Grant $? Ideas:
• Through FOL (control issues)
• At cost (check grant guidelines)
OEMA and others want pencils (pencil order form)
UPDATES:
Pam: Had a list of things she hadn’t done: The Web awards statement, talking to Danielle about bus-backs and the status of the ad vis a vis the theater ads.
Kim: Brought embroidered patch/appliqué as a sample of what L-net could do for a special giveaway/honor @ $6.00/per (Unframed). She contacted Jennifer Worthington who does calligraphy (for certificate giveaways) at about $15/hr.
Made contact with Powell’s and will pursue possibility of partnership for distributing bookmarks with both L-net and Powell’s logos/info.
Next Steps: Media campaign using Bluebook info from section on Arts and Culture, History and Science, and also Media. Write and send press releases, etc.
Other ideas: Dolores Judkins (OHSU); Gail from NLM (Seattle) as contact to get L-net link on their question referral Web page. Kim will send info to Pam to call her.
Wordstock: Pam will follow-up with Mary Kay to see what’s happening.
PSU Tech Fair May 4th – Raffle items T-shirt and 1 USB memory. Staffed by PSU e-reference staff.
August OEMA Technology Workshop August 22-24, 2005 Jesuit High School PDX (Wayne Free speaking) – 2 2day workshops 30 max each (some overlap). Caleb is interested in attending?
Discussion about a marketing strategy for summer, when schools are out and use/statistics typically drop. Brainstorming: OMSI, kids camps, link on Visitor’s bureau. Caleb wants team to do market research.
