L-net Marketing Meeting – Wednesday, February 16, 2005
Present – Pam Horan, Brandon Barnett (facilitator), Kimberly Willson (recorder)

The group met with Tracey Prescott-Mac Gregor to discuss the poster and the bookmark design. This artwork was approved with a few minor changes. Kim proposed that we use Kerry Mc Quaid’s artwork for the academic posters. She distributed three possibilities via email. We discussed finding billboard space east of the Cascades. Pam will look into this promotional idea.

Pam Horan reviewed the Tri-Met campaign. The artwork needs a few more corrections, yet we are set to launch 50 Max signs for March. The group decided to price the “back of the bus” signage before making a decision to run 2 signs each in Medford, Salem and Eugene.

Kim reviewed the OSI order that was placed yesterday at Oregon Screen Impressions for 25 usb memory sticks, 1000 pens, 1000 pencils, and 50 baseball shirts. She will pick the order up as it comes in and deliver the merchandise to MCL for storage and inventory control.

Kim wrote to Kristian Foden-Vencil at OPB so that he can pitch the L-net story to his boss. Kim also put in a call to an Oregonian reporter, Sarah Hunsberger, and is waiting to hear from her. Kim will make a contact list of reporters. She will also contact OMSI about possible ways to collaborate. The group decided to make a contact list of possible museums throughout the state that could promote L-net.

The Oregonian ads will run from February 20 through March 27 in the Sunday paper; 2 weeks in Living, 2 weeks in Arts Week and 2 weeks in Metro.

Pam will ask the L-Net board to send out public service announcements to their local radio stations and papers tomorrow. Pam also shared the whiteboard that can be used at presentations for online projections. These will be part of the party kit and the newly proposed conference kit. Pam will work on the kits.

Brandon found several possible venues for L-net promotion. She will email this list to the group for consideration. Brandon wrote an OLA teaser for distribution on the Libs-OR email list. She will be sending these out periodically to promote the service. This one in particular targets our OLA party and booth.

On Tuesday, February 22, the marketing taskforce will meet with Caleb Tucker-Raymond to develop a long term marketing plan. This time will also serve as a brief meeting for the marketing group.
