new maps of statewide and provincewide virtual reference services
Some time ago I created a map of statewide virtual reference service projects, and updated it last fall. It seems like services in Kansas and Alaska have discontinued, and Minnesota recently announced they were starting a statewide virtual reference service. I decided to update the maps now even though Minnesota is starting "sometime this Spring".
Another map, showing distinctions by vendor (QuestionPoint in Red, Tutor.com in Green, Docutek in Blue and ex-services in gray) is also available: www.oregonlibraries.net/images/vr-by-vendor.jpg I also created a North America map this time (in lovely orange), showing Canadian provinces with province-wide virtual reference services: www.oregonlibraries.net/images/stateprovincewide-vr-2008.jpg If you have the need to edit or build on the maps, I'm also attaching the Adobe Photoshop documents I used to create them - there's a background map and each state or province with a is a solid-color fill layer, though I didn't create fill layers for regions that don't have services yet. There's probably a better way to do it, and if you know it, please share!
