Jessi

Eugene Public Library

I got my start in libraries as a work-study student at the UofO's Science Library. I got bored shelving huge bound volumes of scientific literature (but I did get in shape!) so I applied for a position as the Sci-Lib computer lab assistant. With the help of a friend, we convinced the boss that yes, a girl COULD help people with computers. There, I learned HTML and put my first Pink Floyd fansite up on Lynx using a Unix X-terminal. Ah, those were the days....email was new, the Internet was new, and I spent my days teaching people how to get started.

Flash forward 20 years and I'm still working in a library. I'm still helping people learn how to set up email accounts, but now I get to work at the reference desk.

I'm still having fun!
