Jefferson County Library District

Grew up as a farm kid on an orchard in Hood River, OR. Herded sheep on horseback and ranched in Wheeler County, OR, for 10 years. Worked as a veterinary assistant for 6 years. Been at the Jefferson County Library District for over 16 years. I love animals, books, words, classical music, panning for gold, the desert, rocks (especially obsidian and thundereggs), and planting a big garden.
I have lots of cats, 6 sheep, 16 chickens, 3 ducks, 3 guinea fowl, and one terribly spoiled dog named Murdock! She was abandoned with her brother as puppies out in the sagebrush and a rancher found them.

Expertise:

Eastern and Central Oregon History. Homesteaders, ghost towns, local history.
I love cataloging, reference and finding obscure books for people through ILL. The above are part of my jobs at JCLD. We all wear many hats here.

Favorite books:

Nonfiction books about any type of history, the Mafia, paranormal: UFOs and Bigfoot, some biographies, and some true crime, especially Ann Rule.
I also like Craig Lesley and many Oregon authors.
