Question by buzz@oregonlibraries.net on Tue, 11/25/2008 - 10:53am

What is a resource to find information about the landforms, industries, and climate for all of the regions in the United States?

librarian: Hello Anonymous -
librarian: Are you looking for a web site with information on land/geography for the US?
anonymous: Good morning Librarian, we are back online.... But now I have a 4th grade class. I am trying to show them how L-Net works.
anonymous: Yes
librarian: OK, super. Hi kids!
anonymous: They all said Hi
librarian: I'll look for a site for you. I think I'll start by looking at a site that "indexes the internet"
librarian: The site is called "librarians index to the internet" www.lii.org
anonymous: Oooooo!
librarian: Sometimes it is a good place to start a search....I'll see if they some sites on geography
anonymous: You are really fast... They want to know if you have 2 computers... one to search and one to type to us
librarian: Hah, no, I only have one, but my fingers fly across the keys...
librarian: Sometimes I do go too fast and get mixed up and I have sometimes sent an answer to the wrong patron...
librarian: Then I have to say, "oooops! I'm sorry...."
librarian: So, now I'm looking on lii.org for sites on geography or landforms and US regions...
librarian: This web site says it has "color landform maps of the United States"
librarian: But, it looks like it is arranged by state, and not by region
librarian:

Here is another link, to "Background Notes", which is published by the Dept. of State: This is the full text of the U.S. State Department publication on geographic entities and international organizations. Organized by region and country or international organization, there is much more information here than the basic statistical and geographic information found in almanacs. History, government and political conditions are discussed, as well as the economy, foreign relations, and basic travel information. Also listed are principal U.S. officials and consulate officers. Updated periodically.
