Screenshots of an enterprise IM librarian interface
This page shows screen shots of what a librarian interface might look like if libraries used Enterprise IM software for virtual reference. This is a proof-of-concept only.
1. Here I am, a librarian waiting for a chat. I can see which of my buddies are online, which for now is only myself logged into my Google Talk account. When we get some more users, we'll update this picture to show other librarians online.

2. A new window popped up, a patron looking to connect to a librarian. I have 20 seconds to click "Accept".

3. I clicked "Accept". Another new window popped up that gives me some info about the patron and lets me chat with them, plus a few other controls. If I pick up another patron, it shows up as a tab in this window.

4. Look, I can have "canned responses" to send to patrons and they are easy to use. There are also smileys.
In the top-right corner of the window, there are buttons for ending the session, inviting someone to join me, transferring the question and co-browsing.

5. I clicked on the "cobrowse" icon to send a page to the patron. Another new window opened, and I had to choose my URL, check the box to allow the user to follow and click "Start co-browsing session". The patron had to approve my starting a co-browse session.
