How can I search only for 'digital audio' books? Without entering a title or other info.
librarian: hello ANONYMOUS, thanks for the question. can you hold on aminute while I finish up with another patron?
anonymous: Of course, thanks.
librarian: thanks!
librarian: ok, ANONYMOUS, thanks for waiting!
librarian: ok, so you want digital audio books, downloadable ones you mean? Not ones on CD?
anonymous: yes, exactly. So I just go to that site?
librarian: yes, have you used it before?
anonymous: no.
librarian: Ok. What sort of device did you want to listen to the books on? computer, or cd, or ipo or other?
librarian: ipod i mean!
anonymous: ipod
librarian: all righty. and do you have a mac computer or Windows (or other, again :))?
anonymous: Windows
librarian: oh good, your options are larger then.
librarian: so you would need to download the free 'Media console" software from Library2Go (also known as Overdrive). That's kind of the intermediary software between your ipod and itunes and that database.
librarian: Their pages explain how to do that, it's pretty easy. So to find titles, they have different methods...
librarian: they've got links for "ipod compatible audiobooks" that list the ones you could listen to, once you are in that database and can see their left hand menu.
librarian: Or you could just search for the titles and authors you want, and their little icons under the titles tell you whether the titles are ipod friendly.
anonymous: Great - I'll check it out. Thanks for your help!
librarian: to download the titles to your computer, you just need your library card, to log in.
librarian: you are welcome! have fun! :)
librarian: they are constantly adding new titles to that database too, so if you don't see what you like, check back!
librarian: did you have any other questions today?
anonymous: Nope, that's it.
librarian: ok. bye now, and thanks for using LNet!
