I need information on hairstyles during the 1960s.

November, 2008. 43 minutes, 22 sec.
librarian: sorry for the long wait!
librarian: this is librarian, I'm at a library in Portland
librarian: I can help you find hairstyle info
librarian: just want to make sure, are you still there?
anonymous: i'm still here
librarian: oh good!
anonymous: yepp.
librarian: i'm still finishing helping someone, are you able to wait another minute or two?
anonymous: yea. i can wait.
librarian: thanks for being patient!
anonymous: no problem
librarian: for hairstyle info, are you hoping to find web sites, books, or something else?
anonymous: websites
librarian: and are you looking for women's hairstyles or men's?
anonymous: womens only please
librarian: ok, just a couple more minutes
anonymous: that's fine
librarian: i'm finding some web sites like this one http://www.hairselect.com/1960s.htm
librarian: and we could also find some web sites about the 1960s (not about hairstyles) that would have some pictures that might work
anonymous: that kinda helps. i need more information.
anonymous: maybe if i explain what i need to do that might help
librarian: yes, I should have asked :)
anonymous: haha. it's fine
anonymous: so do u remember the renaissance?
anonymous: like the proto, early, high and northern?
librarian: from the 1500s?
anonymous: yea.
librarian: i know a little bit about that time period
anonymous: so i'm suppose to compare and see how the northern part of the renaissance was the same during the 1960s for womens hairstyles. and i need like alot of info on the hairstyles during then
librarian: oh i see...
librarian: would it help if we found photos of hairstyles from the renaissance too or were you really looking more for info about hairstyles rather than photos?
anonymous: i don't need pics from the renaissance so i'm good with that. i just need info on the 1960s hairstyles
librarian: ok, so there may be a few different ways we could tackle this question...
librarian: it sounds like you may need info that describes the hairstyles of the 1960s, is that right?
anonymous: yes. thats it
librarian: ok, there's a library book called the Encyclopedia of clothing and fashion that may have info on hairstyles and their history
librarian: i can try to find it, or something similar, online
librarian: can you wait a moment?
anonymous: yes i can
librarian: great, back in a sec
librarian: i'm still looking
anonymous: that's fine
librarian: i'm having a little trouble but
librarian: here are some web sites about the history of fashion http://liiwww.ischool.drexel.edu/pub/htdocs/search?sm=;search=history%20...
librarian: some of them might be worth exploring
librarian: and i could also look for articles on the topic - would that be helpful?
anonymous: sure.
librarian: also, if you do have access to a nearby public library, it's likely that your library has books on the history of fashion and possibly on the history of hairstyles - those might be your best resource
librarian: let me take a quick look for some articles
anonymous: i wish i could go but it's due tmw. :(
librarian: oh too bad - you use the Beaverton library?
librarian: i just noticed your zip code
anonymous: yes i have
librarian: i think they have a very good collection, but let me keep trying to find something online
anonymous: okay..thanks :)
librarian: sure
librarian: there's actually a book called Encyclopedia of hair : a cultural history. unfortunately, i don't have a copy.
librarian: it's at a couple of nearby academic libraries, but let me keep looking for articles online
anonymous: okay thanks :)
librarian: still looking
anonymous: that's fine.
librarian: here's a site that talks briefly about 1960s hairstyles http://www.fashion-hairstyles.com/1960s-hairstyles.htm
librarian: i didn't have much luck looking for articles
anonymous: the one u just gave me looks pretty good
librarian: good
librarian: and you may not be able to use wikipedia for a school assignment, but this may help a bit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1960s_in_fashion
anonymous: thanks :)
librarian: sure
librarian: if this gets you started, i could offer a couple of other suggestions
librarian: you could use a search engine and search words like 1960s hairstyles fashion style, etc
librarian: you'll get lots of sites with photos, but there may also be some sites with history and explanations
anonymous: i think that's good for right now. thanks :)
librarian: good and also looking for more general sites about the 1960s are likely to discuss the culture of the time and the impact on fashion and hairstyles
librarian: anyway, if you can't find enough log in again and we'll try some more
librarian: is there anything else that i can help you with?
anonymous: i'm good
anonymous: thanks :)
librarian: ok, thanks for using l-net
librarian: have a good day, bye
anonymous: u too
